The Disappearance of Shaniece Briggs

26 year old Shaniece Briggs was last seen in Columbus, Ohio on June 19, 2013. She was last seen at her home in the 900 block of East Long Street.

Background

Shaniece Briggs was born to mother Melissa Williams on March 2, 1987. She has four children, who were ages one, two, four, and six at the time of her disappearance.

Briggs lived with her children in an apartment in the 900 block of East Long Street in the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio.

“She was a good mother, she took care of her kids,” said Briggs’ mother. “She was just a loving person, always helped everybody even if she didn’t have it.”

Disappearance

At approximately 1:00 am on June 19, 2013, Shaniece Briggs walked out of the back door of her home, taking her wallet and cell phone with her. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Shaniece left her keys and purse inside, and left the door unlocked. Her four children, all under the age of 7, were also left in the apartment.

Around 6:00 am, Shaniece’s mother received a call from the father of Briggs’ children, asking if she was with her. He said she wasn’t home and that the kids were home alone, sleeping.

They reported her missing to the Columbus Police Department and began searching the neighborhood and printing missing person flyers.

Investigation

A neighbor reports seeing Shaniece being pushed into a black car that was parked at the rear of her home.

When investigators searched her residence they found things in disarray, giving them reason to believe foul play was involved. They do not believe she is missing of her own free will.

Her loved ones say she would never have abandoned her children.

Appearance

Black female born on March 2, 1987. Shaniece has black hair, brown eyes, stands 5’5 tall, and weighs 140 pounds.

She has a piercing in her upper right lip, and a tattoo of a king with a crown and “Gregory Fields” going through it on her left arm.

Clothing & Accessories:
Shaniece was last seen wearing a white shirt, black pants (sweat pants or leggings), a pink and grey North Face jacket, and black flip flops.
