The Disappearance of Kim Larrow

15 year old Kim Larrow was last seen at an ice cream parlor in Canton, Michigan on June 8, 1981. She disappeared after making plans to meet up with a friend at Hines Park later that night.
Background
Kim Marie Larrow was born on December 17, 1965. Kim had been living with her mother on Beaufort Drive in Canton, Michigan for about a week before she disappeared. Before moving to her mother’s home she lived with her father on Eggert Road in Dundee.
Described as a rebellious teen, Kim had a history of running away and would often hitchhike, including when she and a friend hitchhiked unannounced to Florida. Although she had ran away in the past she always contacted someone shortly after.
Kim has family in the Ida, Michigan area, and would often spend weekends there with an aunt.
Disappearance
On the evening of June 8, 1981, Kim Larrow was last seen at Stroh’s Ice Cream Parlor near Shelton Road and Ann Arbor road in Canton, Michigan.
Kim’s friend worked at the parlor, and they made plans to meet at Haggerty Field in Hines Park later that night. Kim never arrived to the park and hasn’t been heard from since.
Kim wasn’t reported missing for several days since she had a history of running away, and her mother refused to cooperate with investigators.
“Kim was a forgotten child by an extremely selfish family,” Kim’s brother Brandon Headley told Local 4. “We all should have been there more for you, and I’ll never forgive myself, ever. I believe I’ll see Kim again someday, and then I’ll be able to tell her how sorry I am.”
Investigation
Kim did not have a driver’s license or social security number at the time of her disappearance.
In 2018, authorities announced that Arthur Ream was a possibly suspect in Kim’s disappearance. Ream killed 13 year old Cindy Zarzycki in 1986, and may be responsible for killing as many as six girls.
Following his conviction for Cindy’s murder in 2008, Ream led authorities to her remains in an area near 23 Mile Road and North Avenue in Macomb Township.
Ream reportedly told cellmates he was serial killer with four to six victims while in prison. In 2018 and 2019, police conducted searches at the same property where Cindy had been buried, expecting to find more victims. No bodies were found during either search. Ream died of cancer in prison in August of 2024.
