The Disappearance of Nancy Bunly

31 year old Nancy Bunly was last seen in Lexington, North Carolina on September 22, 2024. She disappeared after reportedly getting into an argument with her boyfriend.

Disappearance

On September 22, 2024, Nancy Bunly dropped off some coffee and tea to her family at their home in Lexington, North Carolina.

Later that evening, Nancy was last seen leaving her boyfriend’s residence near Finch Park by Abbotts Creek Bridge in Lexington, North Carolina.

Following an argument with her boyfriend, she reportedly left in his black Honda Pilot with North Carolina plate number RBA-2896.

On September 23, 2024, Nancy’s family reported her missing to the Lexington Police Department.

Nancy’s family says it’s uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning, and that she would not have left her 7 month old daughter behind.

Investigation

Shortly after her disappearance, Nancy’s cell phone was located near Abbott’s Creek, which has since become a focal point of searches.

In January 2025, Nancy’s boyfriend, Ricky Lam, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. Authorities stated his arrest was not directly related to Nancy’s disappearance. Lam has a prior conviction for first-degree assault in Connecticut from 2003.

Three relatives of Ricky Lam’s were arrested in January 2025 for obstruction of justice. “The three that were arrested was a brother, a sister, and a nephew to Nancy’s boyfriend; and were not only not cooperative but presented some obstructions to our investigation,” explained Robby Rummage, Chief of Lexington Police Department.

Although the arrests are connected to Nancy’s disappearance, she has yet to be found. 

Nancy’s case remains under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to reach out to Lexington County Crime Stoppers.

On September 30, 2025, Nancy Bunly’s boyfriend, Ricky Lam, was charged with first degree murder and concealment of a body. Lam is currently in custody in Guilford County. 

Three of Ricky Lam’s family members, Van Lam, Viencham Lam, and Jonathan Lam, were charged with felony accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and concealment of a body.

The Lexington Police Department continues to seek information from the public.

Nancy was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and grey sweatpants. She was possibly wearing glasses and unknown style earrings.
